Fees explained
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) in Australia charge a standard consultation fee typically ranging between $189 and $289 per session. Out-of-pocket costs are significantly reduced when using a Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan, and their services are recognized by major private health funds.
Funding Options.
Medicare Rebate: With a GP referral under a Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate (typically $87.25) per session) for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
Private Health Insurance: Many major funds (e.g., Bupa, HCF, Teachers Health) provide ancillary/extras cover for AMHSW/counsellor/psychology consultations.
Victim Services NSW - Clients who have an active case number with counselling with Victim Services NSW.
NDIS: AMHSW services can be funded under specific NDIS item numbers if you have an approved plan.
Other Schemes: Sessions may be fully covered under programs like Work Cover and NSW CTP Insurance cover.
